WeHaveMasks for Schools has a no-sew mask designed for schools to quickly make masks on-site using common materials and tools found in schools. Schools or communities that want to make spunbond non-woven polypropylene (NWPP) masks themselves can request materials and WeHaveMasks for Schools will assist as needed with instruction and helpful resources to help them get set up.
WeHaveMasks is working with leaders in the mask pattern development and materials community to develop a no-sew mask that is fast and easy to make. The mask is derived from the MakeIt Mask pattern and designed to be cut and heat sealed using common tools readily available to schools. The pattern will be offered in three sizes and available in a die for Ellison and other die-cutting machines. NWPP will be provided to schools in the form of reusable bags. The bags can be stacked several high and the mask shape cut out. When possible, WeHaveMasks will provide pre-cut NWPP mask shapes to schools as well. Each bag will make 2-3 masks. We are also working on sourcing rolls of NWPP material that will be laser cut at Maker Spaces across the country. WeHaveMasks for Schools is currently in contact with companies to secure a minimum of 20,000 bags.
The mask pattern is the MakeIt Fitted by MakeIt Labs. It is a one-piece shape and will allow the mask to be worn with ear loops, around-the-head elastic, or ties. Each masks will consist of three or more layers depending on the weight of the NWPP material used. There will be three pattern sizes: S, M, and L. The dies will each have two sizes on them. One die for S/M and one for M/L.
WeHaveMasks will coordinate with your school to deliver supplies and provide instruction. A mask assembly line can be set up for a mask-making marathon or a mask station for as needed masks. Both kids and adults can participate.
